These days, there are many different methods for exploiting your writing skills.

The traditional methods - of writing a book and trying to sell it to a publisher, or of being employed or doing freelance work for a magazine or newspaper - are still available as options for writers. But now there are so many more options.

This is due largely to the advent of the internet. Now it is possible to write and make money by using the many resources to be found on the world wide web. A lot of these resources are free to use, and they can put you, and your writing, instantly in touch with large numbers of readers.

The internet also makes it possible to experiment endlessly. See what works and what does not work. Keep going with those ideas and methods that do work. Drop those that do not. It's no big loss.
