Hold the Reader's Attention - A Short Piece of Writing With a Clear, Bold Idea

In traditional methods of writing, it was necessary to conform to certain patterns and templates. For example, a news story had to fill a given number of column inches, or a book must be within an agreed number of pages.

On the internet, it is possible to experiment. We tend to prefer a short, snappy article with a strong and simple idea. And then to have lots of them, pushed out at intervals of time.

The idea behind this scheme, or experiment, is that we noticed the current fashion is for people to use platforms like Twitter and Facebook, where the normal mode of delivery is in a short, compact message. Most people have now got used to communicating, and receiving communication, in this way. If they like what you write, and you do not bore them too much, they will come back to you.

But if you try to hold their attention for too long, you will most likely lose them.
